These lightweight (under 3.5t GVW) recovery vehicles have a number of advantages over larger models, with great versatility, particularly when operating in congested urban areas where space and access may be limited.

The Beavertail body is 4.8m x 2.1m and is fully enclosed for safe working practice, including the ramps and 8 lashing rings along the body. Manufactured from lightweight Aluminium, the lighter body means a lighter vehicle, creating gains in fuel efficiency and environmental impact. In addition to the body, the slide-out Aluminium ramps weigh just 14kg and so are much easier to handle than those on other vehicles. Once used, the ramps then slide back into the body for safe storage. The technology used to create the body is the same as that used in the manufacturing of aircraft and so the bodies will not break or crack – in addition Aluminium does not corrode and as a result the body lasts much longer and can even be transferred onto a new chassis at the end of the life of the original chassis.

The greatest maximum payload is achieved using the Renault Master chassis – at 1645kg it will accommodate a Ford Galaxy – however if you prefer the body can be fitted to a number of other chassis’, including offerings from Ford, Citroen, Peugeot and Vauxhall. The body bolts straight onto the chassis and so does not affect any manufacturer warranty.

The Renault Master-based recovery vehicle is also comfortable and well-equipped for the driver, with factory fitted options including Air Conditioning, Electric Mirrors and Electric Windows.

The primary advantage of these vehicles is that vehicles in this category do not require an operator’s license or tacho, and can be driven legally using a standard UK driving license.
